To-Do List for This Week
I’m looking around at the PIT we live in and I’m realizing that Spring cleaning and organizing never got done this year! So, after my devo’s over breakfast, I made a list. I made a list that is going to scare the daylights out of my kids, because THEY are going to be helping me to accomplish much of it. They each get to pick a task, and complete it. When it’s done, they can pick another one. If they are nice and helpful this week, we will make it worth their while.
To hold me accountable, I’ll post it here, in hopes that what I want to get done, will actually GET DONE by Friday this week. If I can remember I’ll take before & after pictures. If you REFRESH your page right now it will show what I’ve crossed off, rather than a cached page… so you can see we’re getting things done!
Thanks!
TO DO THIS WEEK
LAUNDRY ROOM: Take everything off the shelves & washer/dryer. Vacuum & wipe down the shelves, washer/dryer, and floor. Organize & put everything back on the shelves. (All my cleaning supplies are kept in here on a high shelf.) I already replaced the broken hampers with a nice, three section laundry sorter.
KITCHEN:
Pantry: Clear the shelves & vacuum/wipe down; organize and put everything back. Empty, wash, dry & refill all canisters and cereal containers.
Sink: Make it nice & shiny; clean out from under the sink and organize it.
Cabinets: Wipe down with lemon oil. Go through lid drawer & match lids to containers; get rid of strays. Get a final count on spoons (they seem to be disappearing!) and place an order with Oneida online to replace missing ones. Order a replacement platter from Corelle. What would we do without the Internet!?
Medicine Cabinet: Clear it out, wipe shelves down, and throw away any outdated meds! Make a list of things we need to replace.
LIVING ROOM:
General: Vacuum entire room. Clean window tracks & wash windows. Vacuum pleated shades.
Computer desk: Option A- clean out & organize the computer desk, and dust it. Option B- The computer desk is old, peeling particle board anyway. Tear the sucker down, and bring down the desk from my bedroom. Buy a cabinet to sit on top for storage. Set up the computer and components on the ‘new’ desk. Investigate cost of a cabinet/shelf before deciding to do this.
Entertainment Center: Clear off & dust. Organize drawers & sort to donate or toss.
Shoe Bench: Go through & take out all boots and ALL outgrown shoes for donation/garbage!
LINEN CLOSET: Take everything down and refold, organize, and sort to toss/donate anything we’re not using/don’t need. Put everything neatly back on the shelves. (My linen closet is 8′ long and ceiling height with five shelves. The sheets alone are an undertaking, with 7 beds in 4 sizes. This WAS an all-day project!)
LIGHTS: Not a room, but every light fixture in the house needs to be cleaned. Take down all light covers, wash, dry & put back up. Wipe bathroom vanity light bulbs & fixtures. Wipe bathroom cabinets down with lemon oil. BUY A GLOBE FOR STAIRWAY LIGHT! Vacuum/wipe down all the ceiling fans. (Daddy may need to help with this one.)
OUTSIDE:
General: Wash all exterior windows with ammonia & a squeegee.
Patio: Clear out the toys and shop vac the patio. Wipe down the table & then clean with window cleaner. Throw away trash.
Front Porch: Pick up trash & toys. Sweep & wash down. Wipe down the table & clean with window cleaner.
Yard: This is ongoing, as the weeding never ends. *Weed bedding areas that we haven’t already gotten to yet. *Go around the whole yard and pick up trash and toys, and throw away/put away. *Weed & feed the lawn. *Dust the roses and fertilize the rhodies.
BEDROOMS:
Kids Rooms: The lists are all pretty much the same. Pick up & put away. Clean out shelves/cabinets and organize; sort to throw away/donate stuff. Dust & vacuum. Go through dressers and pull outgrown clothes to donate/pass down. Clean out under beds & vacuum there too. Clean out toybox to toss/donate. *Make a list of needed clothing!
Mom & Dad’s Bedroom: Clean out nightstands. Clear off/organize desk, possibly to move downstairs. Organize closet & vacuum. Sort to donate/toss old clothes & miscellaneous stuff.
